Today, November 14th, marks the birthday of Dr. Fredrick Banting. In recognition of Fred’s work on the discovery of insulin (he doesn’t mind if I call him Fred), diabetes conversations are particularly amplified in an effort to spread diabetes awareness.
If you’re looking for a way to mark the occasion, you can…
Honestly, I can’t think of much to add to the discussion so I’m posting the unofficial, official theme song of World Diabetes Day. Blue is the color of choice for the movement and I couldn’t think of a better song to represent this color. I’d say you can thank me later, but I think I should probably be apologizing.
Technically, calling this episode of Just Talking a “live” recording is a bit misleading. Yes, Ginger Vieira, Manny Hernandez and Dayle Kern were all sitting around a table as we talked about World Diabetes Day, power lifting, and blue cookies – however, you will be listening to this podcast after we recorded it. Is it still “live”? Anyway, Manny had a lot to talk about with the recent Big Blue Test and Ginger justifies the title of Episode 57 in describing what it takes to compete in a power lifting contest. There’s so much in this podcast, I don’t want to delay your listening experience any more. Let me know what you think of this one.
World Diabetes Day was yesterday. A chance to put a huge spotlight on something we deal with every second of every day. I’ve been reading about so many members of the DOC doing their part to spread the word . It’s truly inspiring stuff. But I did notice sometime during the “celebration” that was a total buzz kill.
