I can’t envision a scenario where a 2-mile walk to the beach would ever seem like a bad idea, but when this is the reward, it’s unbelievably difficult to turn down.
As I’ve said, and will likely continue to say, city life is the ultimate basal insulin. Getting to take in sights, and sites, like this while positively contributing to my health and diabetes management might be the most underrated piece of my move to the west coast.
Lunch is served.
Don’t judge me – it was worth every microliter of insulin it took to balance one of those bad boys out.
And for what it’s worth, I think I did okay managing everything.
I’ve come to the conclusion that city-life is the ultimate basal insulin.

Yes, the Instagram filter ruined the ‘sunny day’ that this picture was taken in. The irony is not lost.
I should have taken a picture of my CGM to complement the walk. Alas, I didn’t. But consider this your public service announcement to get some Vitamin D and walk around your home/office when you can. The weather has been miserable in the Northern Virginia area for so long I forgot what ‘nice’ felt like.
