Year in Review (2012)

What’s good for the goose, or something like that, right?

I didn’t do a recap for 2011, and apparently my 2010 recap featured my “I’m a little teapot” pose. I need to talk to the guy who wrote that one. Anyway, because I know Kerri won’t mind, I’m swooping her recap meme for this post. Here’s the first sentence of a meaningful post for each month. Let’s see how/if my writing has improved over the year.

January: “Sorry for the long title.”

February: “Finally, I’ve made a contribution to the You Can Do This project.”

March: “There was some chatter over the weekend, some of it instigated by me, about this thing called Medicine X.”

April: “Kim “My Corgi was featured on the Daily Corgi” Vlasnik wrangled up a bunch of us people with type 1 diabetes that were diagnosed as adults for a group video.”

May: “You’d think this is the easy part of using the Dexcom.”

June: “Diabetes and I don’t often get along.”

July: “Children with Diabetes puts on a conference every year called ‘Friends for Life’.”

August: “A riddle for you, my eager-readers, on this, my 28th birthday.”

September: “Proof that I’m hanging out at Stanford with some pretty awesome people.”

October: “As of this post I’ve gone through 46 out of the opening 50 test strips that came with my iBGStar.”

November: “I’m in the middle of a creative lull, so you’ll have to forgive the lack of exposition.”

December: “48 hours is enough time to offer hyperbolic impressions of this thing, right?”

Recap. Twenty Ten Style.

A great many awesome events occurred in my life this year. I suppose now would be the time to sit and think about everything that’s happened. Between a new home, new job, and a new girl, there’s a lot to be happy about. Diabetically speaking, I’m also quite pleased. My last A1C reached its lowest point since the I started to seriously care about all of this stuff, and despite the issues, I am slowly taking control of my health and the management of said health. Of course I could have accomplished all of that (health stuff) without some help from my trusty companions Bart Allen and Hal Jordan.

Gathering TWiGs – February

February was a short month, but I was not short on content. The beginning of the year continues to show up strong in retail with lots of goodies to play. Assuming I played games instead of just writing (or talking) about them, I too would be a happy camper. Quick tangent – do you say Feb-ur-ary or Feb-ru-ary? That one has always bothered me, but then again, I spend my Thursday nights writing about video games. Anywho, here is a recap of the past month of TWiGs (The Week in Gaming). Check them out, leave a comment if your heart desires. But above all, have a nice day.

That Was Fun

December might be in full swing, but I still think another visit to November is in order. As most of you know, November was American Diabetes Month. Everyone had their methods of participating and advocating and from what I can tell, people were pretty successful in achieving their goals. I decided to put a voice to the twitter names that everyone has come to know and love and brought on members of the Diabetes Online Community the entire month.

Gathering TWiGs – November

November. The peak of the fall season of gaming mixed with a day devoted to gluttony and lots of football. It doesn’t suck. I also participated in NaBloPoMo, National Blog Post Month. Every day a new blog post. Surprisingly harder than I thought, but it was a good journey. Included in that month were my weekly gaming posts. You have no idea how hard it was to write about a topic that did NOT include Modern Warfare 2. If you haven’t heard, that game came out…and it’s really, really good. As indicated at the bottom of each post, these editorials are also featured on Talking About Games. They are good people. And if you missed them, these are good reads.

Gathering TWiGs – October

Still coming down from your sugar rush from the splendors of Halloween? With all the candy at our disposal, I guess it’s time to look back on the month that was. Lots of big time games have hit store shelves. As always, it’s a great time to be a gamer. Assuming you have the time to play all of these games, I’m sure you’re having lots of fun. Might I recommend Uncharted 2: Among Thieves for the PlayStation 3? It’s an amazing game. And speaking of amazing, how about those weekly posts about random Video Game topics that I fancy? Did I mention they are also hosted on Talking About Games?
