It’s a shame “when you get it right, you don’t have to worry about overnight high or low alarms and can get a full night’s rest…until the cats wake you up” can’t be a back-of-the-box selling point for insulin pumps. Because when you get it right, and you don’t have to worry about overnight high or low alarms, and you can get a full night’s rest…until the cats wake you up, is the best. Seriously.
For all the great opportunity this insulin pump offers me, I think the reduced stress from 12-6am is at the top of my list.
That is exactly the reason I started pumping. If I get absolutely no other benefit, it is still well worth the change for no night time lows.

It’s one of the reasons I originally started pumping, too. I have a pretty significant dawn phenomenon and my insulin needs change during the middle of the night. I couldn’t do what I needed to do with injections, but on an insulin pump I can adjust my basal rate to what I need. It’s a thing of beauty. 🙂
