A Proper Eye For Things

It feels like I’ve been sharing a lot of “I ought to-do’s” on the blog lately rather than actually take action, so here’s one more: I want to be a better photographer.

I don’t want to be a professional. I don’t want a transformer of a DSLR slung over my shoulder. I don’t want to watermark everything from here to Valhalla. But I want to get a better appreciation for this camera beyond the bird feeder and my cats, even if they are adorable.

I’m flying up to Seattle for PAX Prime next week – which should be all kinds of indescribable fun. And I’ll have all day Thursday to myself before the convention starts. I’m hoping that will give me an opportunity to see things through my camera’s lens first and foremost and enjoy being a proper tourist.

I don’t know if this will be therapeutic for me, but it will be different. And different sounds like a wonderful plan right now.

Because stuff like this

and this

and this

can be just as rewarding as

and

We’ll see if I follow through. I’m hopeful I will.
