Entry Level Ikea Hacking

MUCH better than the cardboard box.

The Potomac Mills IKEA is about 25 minutes from my office with no traffic. Assembly time was about 20 minutes. Total cost of acquisition and implementation finished up at $45.97 and 90 minutes of my time.

Here’s the money shot.

For reference:

Here’s the table: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10104295/#/10104295

You’ll need 2 brackets: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00167472/#/76696009

And the shelf: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20025047/#/20025047 (Which I didn’t secure to the brackets in case I have to move things.)

And if you don’t have any of your own screws, this will come in handy: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70224228/

For my height, leaving the brackets at the bottom of the table legs put the shelf at the perfect height for my arms. Each bracket is secured to its respective table leg with two (2) 5/32 x 1 3/4″ screws.

Finally, in case you forgot where this journey began…

I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did.
