Fraud

I know fraud may be a harsh word to use, but stuff like this that captializes on the general lack of understanding of what diabetes is and what diabetes isn’t makes me particularly upset.

The cake is a lie.

Stuff like this part of the reason why there are so many people out there blogging, tweeting, status updating and whatnot about diabetes. But not just about diabetes, about the realities of diabetes. Talking about what we eat, how we deal with the stress, how we try to maintain control. We don’t put diabetes in absolutes, nor are we trying to pretend that struggles of diabetes aren’t real.

So bring it on stupidly named magazine with blatant misrepresentation on the cover. Bring it on.

  1. And this is why when I say I’m diabetic I’m asked if I control it with a healthy diet. There should be a different name for type 1 and type 2. Just call it diabetes… And “Can’t live without insulin” disease. Or something.

That cake does look good though. Hmmmm…. Caaaake…

  2. yes i too saw this magazine at the store the other day. my initial reaction was “OMG here they go again” and then i wanted to grab the magazine and write them a really nasty, irrate letter. but i figured the best way was to just keep on advocating and informing whenever and wherever i can!
