Last week I finally got back on my bicycle after over a month of doing anything but riding. Thanks to a recently purchased odometer, I know that initial ride was barely 11 miles. Thanks to Chris being terribly out of shape, I know that my body was unbelievably sore and my endurance is not what it needs to be for a 20-mile ride this weekend. Should be fun times.
With the hopes of doing whatever I can to get ready for Sunday, I decided to ride in to kickball from Arlington this weekend. According to the previously mentioned odometer and confirming the routes on mapmyride.com, I rode 6.3 miles in and 5.66 miles back. Aside from the wrong turn at Albuquerque, I felt like I had accomplished something at the end of the day.
There was also the matter of seeing rain literally roll in on the Mall from the Washington Monument to where we were playing kickball. Side Note: Our team finished undefeated for the regular season. The showers lasted about 5 minutes, but I have never experienced something like that before.
“That’s the rain”

I’m glad I’ve finally gotten back on my bike, I only regret that I started preparing for Tour so late. But I’m looking at this Sunday as the beginning of a new adventure, not the end. I’m looking forward to riding different paths in and around Washington D.C. I’m looking forward to seeing how far the WO&D Trail goes. I’m looking forward feeling physically fit. And I’m looking forward to seeing how having some legitimate cardio in my routine will help manage this silly disease.
Which brings me to my closing. Eager-reader, I’m so close to reaching my fund raising goal. Oh, so close. I can really use your help with this one. Knowing that all of you are behind me on this will help with that extra motivation I need to succeed. So if you haven’t, stop by my donation page and help a brother out. And don’t be fooled by the radio buttons, you can put in a custom amount with something you are more comfortable with on your own. Every dollar helps.
