I spent part of Saturday doing my Christmas shopping. Truth be told, Christmas shopping needs some serious air quotes. Or at least the “shopping” part. Through the magic of the Internet I was able to find something for everyone I needed a gift for, except my grandparents, without leaving the comfort of this little heater placed right next to my chair. The basement is really, really cold.
Last year the theme (for my friends) was gnomes. Everyone got a gnome. Of course I couldn’t find a way to justify a gnome as a present to my mom…maybe my sister, but not to my mom. While I know that you can find pretty much anything on the Internet with the right search terms, the variety of gnome available was quite impressive. I wish I had taken pictures of my acquisitions, I think you would have been proud. I think the gnome is a solid go-to if you are lost on ideas. When in doubt – the sports team gnome. Assuming you get the team right, it’s hard to screw that one up.
I went down a similar path this year, shopping almost entirely on Amazon. With the majority of my purchases going through one location, it’s much easier to see if I’m keeping to my budget and if I’ve spent too much on one item or person. I’m trying to be conscious of my desire to save as much as possible each month with the hopes of it going to a down payment on a place of my own.
With everything settled and Amazon Prime doing it’s thing, I should be finished wrapping presents before the next recording of Post Game Report. If I didn’t make it clear, I love Amazon Prime. Free 2-day shipping? Yes, Please.
I find it kind of interesting that the pursuit of the perfect (or proper) gift is sometimes more exciting than seeing how the gift itself will go over. Why is it that the pursuit is more thrilling than the end? I’m sure that question doesn’t apply to all of life, but I’m guessing some of you eager-readers can relate to that one, right?
Anywho. I think most of the decorations are finalized throughout the house. My parents picked up a real tree for the family room and did the lights and ornaments thing there too. I’ll try to take some pictures of the house in its anticipation for Santa for those of you that like seeing holiday cheer throughout the DOC. I have a feeling that this week is going to be rather light on the blog. I hope you all don’t mind. It’s the holiday season, I can use that as an excuse right?
I feel like I haven’t said this in a while so – Have a nice day.

Bengali is one cool gnome.
Have a great day.
As a cincinnati girl, I <3 Bengali! Wish he would have pulled some magic out yesterday for us.
I don’t know about that … thing … there in the plant. Maybe if it were orange and BROWN instead I might permiss it.
Before he got married and moved away, I bought my best guy friend St. Louis Cardinal gnomes every year. It got hard to find different ones, but you gotta love the internet.
I can’t believe you didn’t get me a gnome
