Oh, Sweet Irony

I find it ironic that my numbers have been well within range since my (latest) I hate Diabetes post. I honestly don’t feel like I am trying any harder from one day to the next. We often comment on the moving target that is proper blood glucose control, and with good reason. Even with all the bionic attachments available some days can be impossible to navigate.

Yes, there are lots of tools to help us manage our Diabetes. But as you’ve likely read on countless other blogs: insulin injections are not a cure, a pump is not a cure. At times I feel like life is spinning in circles, my Diabetes is going no where, and I wonder how often I revisit the same topics on this blog. I wonder if that’s a reflection of my inability to do anything meaningful when necessary.

Maybe that’s just 4.5 hours of sleep talking. I mean who stays up to 4am editing a podcast? Speaking of, I forgot to post a link to the latest Post Game Report. Here you go.

Change is uncomfortable, even more uncomfortable than maintaining the status quo, even when the status quo isn’t all that comfortable either. It’s human nature, and it takes time. This is hardly news to you, I’m sure, but I think the little bits of encouragement we get eventually push us to the point of making change. Managing this thing takes a great deal of flexibility, and if you’re someone who thrives on structure and routine, it can be a challenge to foster that. You’ll get there with the D. Keep writing about it as long as it takes you to figure out what works for you. That’s why the blog is here.
