My Bad
It seems I can’t catch a break. I spent a good portion of Saturday and Sunday relaxing, often napping or all-out sleeping. As a result, my internal clock never synced with the time of the “real world” and I never really got things functioning properly. I still managed to eat 3 meals at the proper time, but Diabetically speaking I was all over the place. Normally a post like this would revolve around a “what the heck Diabetes? I’m doing all the right things!” but in this case I know exactly what went wrong. Lantus.
To be fair, Lantus itself was not the problem. My oversleeping habits caused me to kinda forget or willingly dismiss my nightly Lantus injection. Yes, I’m a terrible Diabetic. How can I forget something that is essential to my day-to-day life? It happens.
If anything, my misadventures have proved that Lantus does in fact work. There was never any doubt, but my overnight fasting numbers over the past 2 days were miserable. My blood sugar stayed elevated most of the day since I started at a high number. Something about you don’t know what you got til it’s gone, right?
I’m still trying to figure out exactly how much the Lantus affects my numbers overnight. Once things get back in order I’m going to start tracking the overnights to get a range of impact. Also, when I have the time I’m going to pull an all-nighter to specifically chart what 21 units of Lantus does on a hour by hour basis. Obviously this will have to happen on a Friday night, but staying up late has never been a problem for me.
This doesn’t really serve as a wake-up call or anything. I’m Diabetic, I need insulin to do whatever it is that I do.
More on the whole ‘I need insulin’ thing tomorrow.

I recall missed Lantus doses back in the day. I don’t miss it.
It happens, you’re human, or somethin’.
