We All Have a Story to Tell
I had a post about a certain topic ready to go. But then a ninja swooped through and put the kabash on that. So in an attempt to join in the revolution, I’ll save that post for next week. I had actually planned on posting the text below at some point, but I am still hesitant. For reasons you will likely be able to infer after reading, I wanted to wait. But it was going to go up eventually, so what better time than now.
If you just started keeping score, I’ve been participating in a little podcast called the ‘Post Game Report’ for a couple months over at Talking About Games. It’s a lot of fun. I kind of like talking into a mic with complete strangers about something that I am very passionate about. As much as video games are a part of my life, it’s not everything. In case you haven’t heard, I have #nodday. Chances are, if you’re reading this you have #nodday too.
Last week I listened to an episode of the BS Report from Bill Simmons. Mr. Simmons is a columnist for Page 2 on ESPN.com and as mentioned, hosts a podcast that serves as a “free flowing conversation that occasionally touches on mature subjects.” His column on Page 2 is equal parts lengthy and epic. While I don’t think I will ever become a writer on his level, I listen to his podcast and think that while I can’t do that…I can do that.
I’m still brainstorming and mulling all of this over, but I am putting this out there now. To you, my eager readers: If I started a podcast of my own, would you be in?
I like the idea of a free flowing conversation. I figure a 1 on 1 talk with you all for public consumption would put a voice to the text that we all have become so familiar with. In a perfect world, the conversation would start with the basics. #nodday, blog origins and all that jazz but would evolve and tangent wherever the discussion goes. Two people, Just Talking. It could last 20 minutes, it could last 60 minutes. The initial connection would be #nodday, but honestly I would rather the conversation tangent as far away from that as possible. There is so much more to all of us than #nodday. I’ve made a big point of that here with my weekly gaming posts and I know that each of us has more to us than #nodday.
To be fair to my healthier readers, I’m looking to include as many people as possible. Potentially any and everyone is welcome to participate. I just feel like I have more to offer than this blog, than PGR, than whatever it is I’m doing right now. I feel like I should be doing more with all of this energy and passion that I sometimes ignore. Right now it feels like a podcast that I could call my own is the way to go. I’m not sure if this will actually turn in to something, but I’ve been thinking it over for the past couple of weeks. There’s no pressure for any of you to commit right now, but rest assured this isn’t really a big deal. After all, it’s just a podcast…we’re Just Talking.
Of course, if no one is interested, then I’m just talking in a room with padded walls. Don’t mind me. But if you are curious, let me know. Comment here, respond over twitter, emails…whatever. I’ll be following up with any guinea pigs…I mean valued participants in the next week or so to discuss potential timetables and going over the programs/tools needed to make it happen.
We all have a story to tell.
PS. Assuming this actually develops into something you can download and listen to…would you actually listen to it? I’m all for doing this for me, but I’d like to know if there is a potential audience. Assuming you all wouldn’t feel oversaturated/annoyed with me being all over the place.
UGH. Like I said, I didn’t want to post this right now. It feels kinda lame asking for a handout like this. But I’m doing my part to not talk about it. Click the image to see twitter posts and (hopefully) links to other posts that also aren’t talking about it. Assuming they all used George’s hashtag. (#nodday)

But if I don’t talk about #nodday, what will I talk about?

I am the queen rambler. I always have something to say. Whether others are listening or not is irrelevant.
I think it’s a great idea. If you can handle my ramblings, I’m in.
It would be a great juxtaposition to compare my eloquent writing with how dumb I sound in conversation. So I’m totally in.
I would definitely need reminders to listen. Would this be in lieu of blogging? You’re taking on an awful lot of projects between this possible podcast, the gaming stuff, the blog, twitter and whatever else you’re up to. You’re way better at multi-tasking than me though.
Sure, I’ll scar the internets with my life, why not? What else do I have to lose?
